Early Results in the RTGD Bowl Challenge

This weekend had quite a few good games as Bowl week kicked off with a bang. Thanks to the nifty program we used to set up the RTGD Challenge, it’s been a lot easier than the spreadsheet I built that I was going to have to hand count. Here are some early results from the Bowl Challenge:

LOCK OF THE WEEK

It seems like everyone did their homework on the most lopsided bowl game of the season. Over 77% of the people who took the challenge picked South Florida, which had by far the largest point-spread of the bowl season.

BIGGEST WHIFF

Only 29% of people thought Arizona, the three-point Vegas favorite, would win the Las Vegas Bowl. Apparently, Hasslehoff’s brilliant return to Las Vegas to sing the national anthem inspired the Wildcats. Check out this video of the performance, what an absolute delusional lunatic. I would use this video at high schools for the kids of America, urging them not to dabble with drugs, or else they’ll end up like this, minus the millions and millions of dollars and fame in Germany.

BIGGEST WHIFF – PART TWO

Fresno State had 66% of us fooled into thinking they could take down Colorado State. After reading this story, I was hoping that the Bulldogs could send coach Dan Brown off with a victory.

DO YOU KNOW WHO BILL STEWART IS?

While the game hasn’t been played yet, almost 72% of us took West Virginia to beat North Carolina in the Meineke Fix Your Car Bowl. That means that almost 3/4 of us think a team with almost a month of preparation being coached by Bill Stewart is going to beat a team with almost a month of prep time under coach Butch Davis.

PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE IN CHARLIE WEIS

The biggest non-surprise of the week’s picks was that I was going to roll with ND while Phil was going to pick against them. Apparently, 2/3 of the people still think that Notre Dame will pull off the win versus Hawaii, after the late season tank almost cost Charlie Weis his job.

No bowl games tonight, but the biggest non-BCS match-up of the year is tomorrow night when Boise State and TCU face off in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.
